One on one’s for so called fans

Performance
Tuesday, October 7, 2014 — 7:30pm
West Village Theatre

One on one for so-called fans consists of a series of performances for 1 to 4 preselected witnesses. Just meters away from the actions, in a lair invested by the artist, those that attended these earlier private meetings will then reveal publicly the performative narrative of this encounter. Simultaneously shimmering the limits of their own intimacy, storytelling and appropriation of one’s body and gestures becomes the only possible way of retracing its original author.

Nadège Grebmeier Forget models and hybridizes the female body through appropriation and empowerment of femininity over male gaze. Defusing expectations of ideals of beauty, she constructs chimeras, self-portraits and/or still lives that ritualize and distort intimacy through seduction and spectacular abstractions, recalling how one struts and shamelessly exposes fictional selves through media today.
