When we started crafting the Winter 2024 issue, we knew we wanted to honour the threads of knowledge that secure one generation to the next. In art spaces, the works of long dead white men loom large over all sub-disciplines, while locally the emphasis on the “emerging” is constant. Devoid of references, time and again old ideas are repackaged for new times.

ISSAY! Magazine is a free, digitally accessible arts publication that exists at the intersection between mediums and localities.
We prioritize the works of marginalized creatives and offer this publication as a space where communities have agency to tell their stories. ISSAY! Mag accepts pitches twice a year.
Printmaking & Interdisciplinary Creation: An Expansive Residency // 2023/2024
This residency is a collaboration between M:ST and Alberta Printmakers (A/P), offering two B.I.P.O.C. artists with an established practice outside of printmaking an opportunity to learn and integrate printmaking into their artistic practice. This is a self-directed residency involving an education phase, followed by a creation phase. An exhibition of their work takes place after the conclusion of the creation phase.
Studio Zama // 2023/2024
Studio Zama is a sonic pilot project that brings together two artists who have yet to work together to create something out their comfort zones.
The work produced is presented at a dedicated public showcase.
