While people all around the world are experiencing the effects of COVID-19, artist Jood Jung is living and working on a cow farm in Chiang Mai Province, Thailand. Accepting the unpredictability of life, Jood is staying low-key, milking cows, and transforming her situation into something special by exploring animal-human relationships. These explorations take the form of interactive performances and collaborations between Jood and the cows- one performance a day for fourteen days.

At Rung Arun Farm / At Sunshine Farm
15 April 2020

On a mountain in a rural area in Chiang Mai province, a small village has a dairy farm named “Rung Arun Farm” / “Sunshine Farm.” I love nature, love animals, love fish, love dogs, love mountains, love trees and I love cows.

Every cow has a name. There are a total of 54 cows and one bull called "Covid" that was born only a month ago in the midst of a stressful epidemic caused by Covid-19 virus. One day I had a crazy idea to take a banana to hold as an umbrella and then sat in the sun among the cows. The cows swarmed over the banana and licked my hand. This is the origin of the term “CokhWID” / “CokhWID” which is pronounced the same as "Covid" / "Covid".

The 20 came from the fact that this idea came up in theyear 2020.

"Co" in Thai means cows.

"Khwid" is an action of a bull/cow charging with his horn or his head to protect himself.

I had an interaction with cows for 14 days that is related to the period of quarantine. I would like to call it “Interactive performance” because I interacted with cows in different ways each day and was observing the reactions of the cows at the same time.

“Cokhwid-20” is therefore just a crazy idea from a cowboy who is 10 times smaller than a cow, and I will call the cow’s name just like the sound of the wind that responded to me. That's it.

At Sunshine Farm

15 April 2020.

Sunshine farm”

Interactive performance”
